One of my favorite restaurants in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom is one which often gets overlooked. The Plaza Restaurant is just to the right at the end of Main Street USA as you face Cinderella's Castle and is a quaint and relaxing place to enjoy a lunch or dinner and to escape from the park’s crowds and noise for a little while. Decorated to echo the turn of the century theme of Main Street, one would think they’d stepped back into a fancy garden restaurant of the era with the plants and mirrors in the restaurant as well as the open and bright dining room.

The menu is not fancy but, let me tell you, The Plaza has one of the best burgers you’ll find in the Magic Kingdom and it’s huge! Your burger comes accompanied with your choice of fries or potato salad. Also for the offering are other hot sandwiches such as chicken, cheese steak and reuben sandwiches, cold meat sandwiches and wraps, and different salads such as their chicken and pear salad. Don’t think the main attraction of the Plaza is the entree. The Plaza could easily double for an ice cream parlor. Try one of their milkshakes or save room for dessert and have the brownie sundae or banana split and you’ll know what I mean. The desserts are truly massive so you might think of sharing one for the table. If stuffed, you can always just get a dish of ice cream straight from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor next door. The service at the Plaza is always quick and friendly and a welcome break to the often hectic park.

The Plaza Restaurant offers a quiet atmosphere for a relaxing lunch or dinner. The menu remains the same for both meals. Advance Dining Reservations for the Plaza can be made 180 days in advance to your arrival and, though never a very busy restaurant, it is small. If you’re visiting at a peak time, you’re going to want a reservation to make sure your park plans don’t get thrown out of whack. As one my personal favorites this often forgotten about eatery, next to Cinderella’s Royal Table and Crystal Palace character meals, the Plaza Restaurant makes a welcome break in a pleasant atmosphere with delicious food and a dessert menu to drool over!

Editor's Notes: I would like to thank Krystal Thomas (tink85 on the DISBoards) for volunteering to do this PS Spotlight. This is her fourth review, click here to see what she thought about Mexico's San Angel Inn, Boardwalk's Spoodles and Magic Kingdom's Crystal Palace restaurants.
