The PS Planning Guide would like to thank Bruce Carlson for his photo of the Liberty Tree Tavern. For more great photos, visit Carlson's Disney Resort and Parks Picture Site.

PHOTO TIP: Always have a camera with you when doing a character meal. This is the best time to have truly one-on-one interaction with the characters at Walt Disney World. And, as the case with these two teenagers you see below, it doesn't matter the age. I love getting my pictures with my favorites as much as the kids!

Minnie Mouse is the host of the Liberty Tree Tavern's Character Meal. Goofy, Pluto and Chip & Dale join Minnie in welcoming guests. But don't ask them to pick up the check!

The Liberty Tree Tavern is found in Walt Disney World's Liberty Square right next door to the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon. Decorated inside and out as an old colonial inn. Hosts and hostesses seat guests by announcing their surname and state (if a US family). Similar to this, "I'm looking for the Thomas family from the great state of New York!".

As some of you know, the Liberty Tree Tavern is the reason I created the PS Calculator in the first place. My wife and I had decided to bring our family down to WDW on Thanksgiving Day last year (2000) and we wanted to have our dinner at Liberty Tree. Why? Well, after 4pm, the Liberty Tree Tavern features a unique character meal with Minnie Mouse as the hostess, Goofy, Pluto and those lovable chipmunks, Chip & Dale. All the characters are dressed in colonial garb including your servers.

Another reason the Liberty Tree Tavern makes for a great Thanksgiving Day (or any other day) dining experience is that the dinner menu consists of roasted turkey breast, marinated flank steak, and honey mustard ham accompanied by home made mashed potatoes, garden vegetables, herb bread stuffing, gravey and macaroni and cheese. All served family style until you can't eat anymore. Beverages of soda, tea, milk and coffee are inlcuded in the meal's cost of $27.99 for adults and $12.99 for "little patriots" aged three to nine. Desserts are available at extra cost. Liberty Tree Tavern also serves lunch but it is NOT a character meal and it's only single servings and not an all-you-can-eat meal.

You can make Advance Reservations for the Liberty Tree Tavern 180 days in advance.

The Liberty Tree Tavern atmosphere is relaxed and makes for a nice break from WDW counter service venues. In contrast to other character meals, Liberty Tree's is more laid back and, while not quiet, it is not like Chef Mickey's with clapping and towel thwirling either. For our Thanksgiving Day meal, it was wonderful!
