Narcoossee's is a Victorian-style steak and seafood restaurant which sits on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon in an airy, octagon shaped pavilion at the Grand Flordian resort. If you are not staying at the Grand Flordian resort, Narcoossee's is about a 20 minute walk from the resort's monorail station. It's a delightful stroll through the vast Grand Floridian lobby, manicured gardens and Victorian architecture as only Disney can recreate. The covered entrance to Narcoossee's takes you to the podium to check in. This is when you can request a table next to a window if you'd like to dine while watching the monorail and watercraft bring guests back and forth to the Magic Kingdom. Be aware that this is a popular request and you may be asked to wait beyond your reservation time to accommodate you. You can see the spires of Cinderella Castle and Space Mountain from Narcoossee's. If you are there when Wishes is performed, you are allowed to go outside on the restaurant's porch to watch.
Narcoossee's, like the resort it is located in, is an upscale restaurant with superb service, spacious tables and seating and excellent food. In the Disney World guidebooks, it would be considered in the higher end of the pricing scale. Like 3 or 4 stars. I spied many people celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions.
Upon checkin, I requested and got a table with a view of the Magic Kingdom (see photo) for two. Our server immediately was at our table. She was funny, very personable and knew the menu by heart. While we did not encounter any issues with our meal, I got the impression she would have taken care of it promptly. She took our drink orders while we looked over the menu. When she returned with our drinks, she gave us some recommendations and went over the chef specials.
I ordered and was quickly served the Shrimp and Crab Chowder appetizer. It was hot, thick and the homemade crackers where the perfect companion to the savory chowder. My wife got the Green Goddess Salad which she said was delicious. The entrees where served only after we had had time to finish our appetizers. All I can say is the Steamed Whole Maine Lobster laid before me was a sight for my seafood loving eyes to behold. Perfectly cooked, the meat was tender and juicy. Dipped in some melted butter, the lobster was succulent. The Surf and Turf shared the same kind of cooked lobster tails and a melt in your mouth filet mignon and gratin potatos. Sadly, we had other plans for dessert but have heard good things about the Key Lime Creme Brulee and Gelato Sampler.
Narcoossee's is a special place to dine whether you're looking for a romantic evening for two, or a special dinner for the whole entire family. -- Scottwdw
