Cookie "Sales"
The little chefs stop the cart on the back deck so that Cast Members and hotel guests can take some cookies. The chefs wrap the cookies in napkins and proudly hand them to the adults. Everyone is surprised at how warm the cookies are. They're definitely fresh from the oven and baked with love.

The Grand Floridian Resort hosts the "Grand Adventures in Cooking" class for children aged four to ten. The class is held in the Mouseketeer Club and no adults are allowed (except for the Grand Floridian's Children's Program Cast Members). At the "Grand Adventures in Cooking" class, the children get to decorate their own chef hats and aprons.

While these "works of art" are drying, a story is read to them. The books chosen are directly related to what they are cooking that day, (example: If they hear "The Hungry Caterpillar", they will create fruit kabobs). Most of the preparation is done in advance so that safety is not an issue (the children don't do cutting or anything along those lines) and hygiene is very important, the kids must wash their hands at least 4 times during their stay.

After cooking, the treats are arranged on a cart and the new chefs take them to the Grand Floridian lobby. Cast members throughout the resort are excited to see them coming. Apparently they really look forward to Tuesdays and Fridays! The children just beam and are so proud to hear the many compliments that come their way.

Grand Adventures in Cooking has two class times weekly on Tuesday and Friday's at 10:00 AM. The event lasts about two hours and a PS can be made up to 90 days in advance. The cost is $23.47 per child with only 10 children per class.

The PS Planning Guide would like to thank Janet2K for the use of her images and information she gathered while her daughter attended the Grand Adventures in Cooking.
